When you think about Hong Kong, the first things that come to mind are probably shopping and dim sum, but a lot of people don’t realize that the city has a lot of picturesque pools too. From the world’s highest pool to a natural infinity pool on a mountainside, these hk pools will have you feeling like a celeb during your next trip to the city.
At the top of the renowned Victoria Peak lies a stunning rooftop pool overlooking a spectacular view of the city and the harbor. The pool was designed by the famed local architect Terry Farrell and Partners, who have worked on a number of photogenic projects around the world. The water in the pool is kept at a comfortable temperature, and there are even speakers that pipe in underwater music to make swimming that much more surreal (or annoying, depending on your taste).
The ultra-sleek Hotel Indigo also features a rooftop pool, but it’s more than just a pretty swim spot — its glass bottom allows swimmers to see the streetscape below. The hotel’s signature WET deck hosts stylish and wild poolside parties in summer, and the pool itself is surrounded by 144 LED screens that display soothing illustrations of tree canopies and coral reefs.
One of the most unique pools in HK is located at the swanky W Hong Kong. The 76th-floor pool is open to guests only, and it has its own swanky cocktail bar. The pool itself is small compared to those in other hotels, but the Instagram-friendly experience more than makes up for it.
A hiker’s paradise, Bride’s Pool is a series of pools and waterfalls located in the New Territories near Tai Mei Tuk. The crystal clear water is only accessible by hiking the four-kilometer Bride’s Pool Nature Trail, which is kid-friendly and scenic. The hike can be a bit tiring but the breathtaking scenery and cool waters make it well worth it.
